2008 Celebrate the Season Parade

Published by robbiejamieson at 10:08 pm under Events, Holidays Edit This

After you eat turkey on Thursday and shop all day Friday, spend Saturday morning enjoying the 28th annual Celebrate the Season Parade, presented by Macy’s and WPXI.

At 9:00AM, the parade will start at Mellon Arena. Continuing down 5th Avenue, the parade will turn left onto Wood Street, right at the Boulevard of the Allies, and finish when it reaches Stanwix Street. The parade will be hosted by WPXI’s David Johnson and Peggy Finnegan. Joining the celebrities as they make their way down 5th Avenue will be Julie Bolongna and John Fedko.

In addition to the traditional marching bands, the parade will feature Mark Farner, a former Grand Funk Railroad vocalist. Other scheduled appearances include Mr. McFeely, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Vanessa Campagna, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, Iceberg, and, of course, Santa.

For those of you who choose not to leave the comfort of the couch, the parade will be shown on channel 11 (WPXI) from 9:00AM-11:00AM with encore presentations on multiple channels throughout December.

Remember to dress warmly, since the high for the day is expected to be 40. Parking downtown is scarce and expensive, especially since the city is not offering free parking this holiday season, so using the Port Authority buses is recommended.
